If you didn’t know any better, you would have no idea that Zion was only in his second game back as he ended the evening with 31 points and 11 rebounds along with a steal and a block. This was the first game of the season and, for better or for worse, it might have been the best game of the season for Duke, in terms of everyone’s individual performance.
It was a revenge game from last season, despite having a completely different starting five, but this Duke team knew it had to avenge last seasons loss at Madison Square Garden and Mike Krzyzewski reminded the team of that. However, this season was still full of excitement and exciting games from amazing comebacks, dominant performances, and jaw-dropping highlight plays. I wouldn’t say it’s a slam dunk he plays, and the third stringer Thomas Castellanos struggled a ton in that game. If you just look at the box score, you really won’t why this game was so special. And then the Blue Devils outscored Louisville by 11 in the second half to win by two points. Goldwire logged 28 minutes, only trailing Williamson, Barrett, and Jones, and came away with four points, three rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
